A HOTEL chain that charges guests extra for items and services such as towels, hair-dryers, housekeeping and air conditioning is coming to Australia.
Tune Hotels, which operates in a similar way to budget airlines by offering guests the bare necessities for a discounted price, has bought a site in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD that it plans to open next year.
It is set to shake up the hotel industry by offering rooms for under $100 in main cities and hopes to open properties in Darwin, Perth, Sydney and the Gold Coast next.

A heat wave is blanketing the country from New Brunswick to Alberta, with scorching weather that baked much of the U.S. making its way to this side of the border.
The unrelenting heat is melting temperature records across the country.
Winnipeg’s Lindsay Vieira and her six-year-old son have spent much of their time at a local splash park the last couple of days, making use of lots of sunscreen and shade.
“We don’t have air conditioning,” she said. “We have had to find other ways to stay cool. Air-conditioned restaurants … and splash parks.”
